VIZOSO PARRA, Angel et al. Plectranthus amboinicus (Lour.) Spreng (Orégano Francés). Estudio toxicogenético de un extracto fluido y del aceite esencial. Rev Cubana Plant Med [online]. 1999, vol.4, n.2, pp.68-73. ISSN 1028-4796.
We used 2 genotoxic trial systems, one in vitro, somatic segregation test in diploid D-30 Aspergillus nidulans, to asses potential effect of a fluid extract, and the essential oil from Plectranthus amboinicus (Lour.) Spreng (orégano francés), and the in vitro one, micronuclei-induction trial, in mouse bone marrow, to assess clastogenic or aneugenic action of fluid extract of French origan. Concentrations assayed in the in vitro trial, to fluid extract and from essential oil, were from 0,323 to 1,292 mg of total solids/mL, and from 0,01 to 0,1 % v/v. In the in vivo trial to fluid extract, we assayed dose from 193,50 to 773,20 mg/kg of body weight (B.W.). Fluid extract of French origan and essential oil, showed a significant dose-dependent cytotoxic and genotoxic action in somatic segregation trial versus D-30. Aspergillus nidulans, but without effect in micronuclei-induction trial in mouse bone marrow of fluid extract from Plectranthus amboinicus (Lour.) Spreng.
