Authors assessed possible genotoxic activity of fluid extract from Psidium guajava L. (Guayaba). This is a plant growing in Cuba and is very used by people in treatment of some diseases. A short-term trial system using Ascomycetes fungi (Aspergillus nidulans as test microorganism). We confirmed that fluid extract studied hasn´t genotoxic activity in system assessed: induction of somatic segregation in heterocygous diploids. These results allow us experitally guarantee safety of this plant to ratify its use on folk medicine.
