In the present paper, the authors make a report on the bibliographic review carried out in relation to the pharmacognostic, chemical, pharmacological and toxicological features of Bidens pilosa Linné, well known as romerillo blanco, to establish its wide use in natural and traditional medicine due to its therapeutical properties, which have been used by the Cuban people for generations and have served as the foundation for the development of phytodrugs. The Chemical Abstract, IPA, NAPRALERT, MEDLINE, EXCERTA, ANALYTI, ISC-CP and AGRICOLA are among the main reference sources.
