A phytochemical study of Senna alata L. as raw drug and of the fluid extract from this plant obtained by the re-percolation method. Dr Fuentes Fiallo properly identified the leaves from the plant at INIFAT and then they were subjected to a drying process in perforated trays for 7 days; later they were ground in a blade and hammer grinder to obtain the raw drug. For the obtainment of extract fluid, 30% ethyl alcohol was used as a menstruum. During the phytochemical screening, simple and selective techniques were used for certain compounds. The achieved results allowed us to prove the high variability of chemical components present in Cassia alata, which substantiates its great usefulness.
