ISSN 1028-4796.

In order to increase the arsenal of mother tinctures made from plants cultivated under the conditions of Cuba , it was of interest to obtain the Passiflora incarnata L., according to the method of the French school, at an ethanol titer of 65 %, and to establish its quality indicators, such as organoleptic characteristics, capillary image, refraction index, relative density, pH, ethanolic titer and percentage of dry residual. Identification reactions were carried out to determine the presence of phenols, flavonoids, and alkaloids, and a dye profile was standardized by thin layer chromatography. The quality indicators in all the obtained batches were within the limits established for the pharmacopoeias taken as references. A stability study was conducted to determine the time of useful life of the tincture during a year at room temperatures in glass amber flasks of 30 mL It was proved that under these conditions the tincture kept its characteristics in an optimal way and that its microbial count was below the permissible levels during the whole experiment. These results show that it is really possible to obtain this tincture in Cuba with a quality similar to that required by official homeopathic pharmacopoeias.
