ISSN 1028-4796.

In order to know the effect of the Aloe vera injectable aqueous extract on the content of nucleic acids in peripheral blood of the mouse with myelosupression due to drug therapy, Balb/c female mouses of 18 g of weight that had previously received a sublethal dose of cyclophosphamide were used. The treatment was applied with the plant extract at doses of 0.18 mg/Kg by intramuscular route once a day and during 7 days. The determinations were made at the beginning of the trial and 4 and 8 days after the administration of the injectable. A significant statistical increase of the content of total nucleic acids in leukocytes of peripheral blood was observed in those animals that received the extract 8 days after the beginning of the treatment, when it was compared with a control group that received sodium chloride solution 0.9 %. The significance level was fixed at a p lower than or equal to 0.05. The results showed that the Aloe vera injectable aqueous extract could protect or favor the repairing and/or synthesis of these molecules.
