Origanum majorana L.is popularly called marjoram and it is widely used to cure stomachal affections. Due to the importance of its therapeutic action, it is necessary to develop the pharmacognostic studies of this species to have a plant material of optimum quality. Macromorphological and micromorphological descriptions, drying experiments, determinations of the numerical indexes and presence of secondary metabolites were carried out. The conditions of packing and storage of the dry drug were also studied for a year. The glass flasks and the composed tins proved to be the best. Generally, the data attained may serve as a basis for establishing the quality specifications of O. majorana L. cultivated in Cuba.
