Resumen

JIMENEZ ALEMAN, Narda María et al. Phytochemical evaluation of 3 species of Erythroxylum. Rev Cubana Plant Med [online]. 2004, vol.9, n.2, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1028-4796.

The Erythroxylum genus was selected as one of the most promising for studying antiviral processes. The species of this genus were collected in different periods of 2000 and 2001 in various localities of Pinar del Río province, Cuba. The phytochemical composition of the leaves and extracts of the species Erythroxylum confusum Britt, Erythroxylum alaternifolium var. alaternifolium and Erythroxylum minutifolium Griseb var. minutifolium, was studied. The two latter are endemic of Cuba. For both, the leaves and the extracts, it was found correspondance between the screened species and what is reported in literature on this genus as regards the composition of the present metabolites: flavonoids, alkaloids, triterpenes and/or steroids and phenols and/or tanins,

Palabras clave : Erythroxylum; phytochemistry; flavonoids; Cuba.
