Resumen

MILANES FIGUEREDO, Masgloiris; RODRIGUEZ GONZALEZ, Horacio; RAMOS GALVEZ, Raúl  y  RIVERA AMITA, María Magdalena. Effects of plant compost and earthworm humus in the sustainable production of floral chapters in Calendula officinalis L. y Matricaria recutita L. Rev Cubana Plant Med [online]. 2005, vol.10, n.1. ISSN 1028-4796.

The effects of plant compost and earthworm humus obtained with the studied methodologies at "Dr. Juan Tomás Roig" Experimental Station of Medicinal Plants on the production of floral chapters in Calendula officinalis L. and Matricaria recutita L. species, were evaluated. To this end, an experiment was made with every of the mentioned species in a ferriferous red hydrated soil and a randomized block design was used. Concentrations of 10 and 20 ton/ha of each of the organic fertilizers were experimented in the studied species. The results showed that the cultures respond positively to the organic fertilizer and that the earthworm humus had a higher effect on the plant mass yielding. With the concentration of 20 ton/ha it was obtained a steadier behavior and the highest yieldings in 2003 and 2004, in both species. It was proved the production feasibility and the sustainable use of plant compost and earthworm humus, which are organic fertilizers with high biological and nutritional value.

Palabras clave : Plant compost,; earthworm humus; Calendula officinalis L; Matricaria recutita L; floral chapters.
