Solanum melongena L. is a vegetal species popularly known in Cuba as aubergine or eggplant, although it has other common names. Es an herbaceous plant very used in food diet, that on can be consumed when is cooked because of it contains very toxic termolabile alkaloids. Usually is used in a way of maceration, decoction, syrup, and capsules in treatment of skin inflammations, to lose weight, to eliminate fatty acids of human organism, facilitates digestion, and prevents stomach cancer. Pharmacological studies support these properties, as well as the high antioxidant effect of preparation from fruit since the high composition of flavonoids. There are 31 patents linked with this species where mainly preparations of medical use (9), species reproductions (8), and tissue culture (6) are protected. Clinical studies assert that is one of the more suitable food to improve blood circulation.
