Introduction:

sacrolumbalgia is the acute or chronic pain of the lumbosacral spine, it is also known as lumbalgia. Low back pain is not a diagnosis or a disease, it has also been called lumbalgic syndrome, which includes all the diseases and traumatisms of this region, with predisposing genesis or without it.

Objective:

to demonstrate the effectiveness of acupuncture treatment in sacrolumbalgia

Method:

an experimental case and control study was carried out in the CMF # 7, of a universe 89 patients attended by this ailment in this period, were taken as sample 40 patients of random form, which were distributed in 2 groups of 20 members each, the first group considered as intervention received acupunctural treatment, which was compared with a control group with the same number of patients but with pharmacological treatment, using analgesics, muscle relaxants, vitamins and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, always orally.

Results:

the study showed that the acupuncture treatment significantly decreased the disability caused by sacrolumbalgia, being the female the best therapeutic response, it was determined that this condition predominates in ages between 36 and 55 years of age, being the male sex and the working population are the most affected.

Conclusions:

it was found that acupuncture treatment was more effective in reducing disability due to low back pain (TM) than for pain relief (EVA).
