Introduction:
bronchial asthma is a chronic disease that can compromise the patient's life if it is not prevented and treated properly. It has significant prevalence and is among the main causes of hospital admission; Acupuncture is a form of therapy developed thousands of years ago, with multiple indications, including this condition.
Objective:
to evaluate the effectiveness of acupuncture treatment model in children aged 6 to 14 years with bronchial asthma crisis in 2018.
Method:
an experimental study was carried out in the "13 de Marzo" University Polyclinic of Bayamo, to evaluate the effectiveness of an acupuncture treatment model in children from 6 to 14 years of age, with bronchial asthma crisis, to the study group. he applied the model of acupuncture treatment with auriculo puncture and the control group the conventional pharmacological treatment.
Results:
a total of 439 patients were studied, in the study group the therapeutic response was faster, no undesirable adverse effects were found, there were fewer relapses, 88.3% of the patients achieved control of the acute crisis and it was obtained an effectiveness of 94.5% while in the control group it was 20.8%.
Conclusions:
the favorable therapeutic response obtained, with high percentages of control of the disease, allows us to state that the applied acupuncture model is more effective than conventional treatment.
