Introduction:

infertility is becoming increasingly popular in societies.

Objective:

to facilitate the work of the family doctor in the collection and follow-up of cases of infertility.

Method:

a bibliographic review was carried out, through digital consultation of specialized journals, updated and freely available on the website of the Virtual Health Library. Several keywords were used to locate the publications, which mainly contained the term infertility. The most recent digital citations, which showed the work in their entirety, were subjected to an analysis that allowed obtaining the information.

Development:

Among the causes of infertility identified most frequently are in the case of females, genital infections and as an exponent of the male with the varicocele.

Final considerations:

promoting the incorporation of knowledge will allow the design of preventive actions on the main causal factors of infertility from the Primary Health Care.
