Abstract

PLANOS FORMENTO, Gisela et al. Some approaches on the conventional conductive anesthetic technique in stomatology. MEDISAN [online]. 2009, vol.13, n.3. ISSN 1029-3019.

A descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out in 100 stomatologists surveyed in Santiago de Cuba municipality during November - December, 2007 in order to specify some of their approaches to the application and effectiveness of the conventional conductive technique in the practice of their occupation. It revealed that 63,0% was in favor of the use of the procedure for its advantages in most of the cases, but the remaining ones pointed out certain difficulties in its use, as well as anesthetic complications, deducing from this that in spite of its simple use it is often not so effective; it also increases the use of anesthetics and prevents patients from achieving their complete satisfaction due to pain clinical manifestations and other adverse effects.

Keywords : ANESTHESIA, DENTAL [methods]; ANESTHESIA, DENTAL [adverse effects]; PATIENT SATISFACTION.
