Abstract
SUAREZ ROBERT, Ismenia and FIGUEROA FREIRES, Juan Carlos. Central pontine myelinolysis as a complication of the disease due to burns. MEDISAN [online]. 2009, vol.13, n.3. ISSN 1029-3019.
Burns cause injuries that affect the integrity of the skin and can damage, among other systems, the neurological system, as some time after they take place, vasodilatation and marked cerebral edema with diffuse neuronal degeneration appear, besides multiple changes like: infectious processes, heart attacks, cerebral hemorrhages, metabolic encephalopathies, cerebral trauma and pontine myelinolysis. This last one is the least diagnosed, but it may be very common in patients with severe burns.
Keywords : MYELINOLYSIS, CENTRAL PONTINE; BURNS [complications]; CEREBRAL HEMORRHAGE; MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION; BRAIN DISEASES, METABOLIC.
