The first camp for children and adolescents with diabetes mellitus in Santiago de Cuba was inaugurated in August of 1970. By 40 years of its creation an interesting article was made on its geographical location, treatment, diet, education for health, and metabolic control, exercises, medical and paramedical personnel, sport and recreational activities, as well as evaluation of the acquired knowledge and other interesting aspects on the topic.
