Abstract

LAFARGUE MAYOZ, Dina et al. Quality of the implementation of the Tuberculosis Control Program in a closed institution from Santiago de Cuba. MEDISAN [online]. 2010, vol.14, n.4. ISSN 1029-3019.

A descriptive and cross-sectional investigation in a closed institution of Santiago de Cuba municipality was carried out, from January to December, 2008, to evaluate the quality in the fulfillment of the Tuberculosis Control Program. For pursuing this goal it was applied the methodology developed by Public Health Faculty in Havana City. The study revealed that the professional competence of doctors and nurses that worked in the implementation of the program and the fulfillment of its operative indicators, were inadequate. It was taken into account that important limitations of material resources exist, that don't guarantee the necessary structure for the successful development of this program, so it is recommended to analyze the results of the investigation with those who make decisions in the institution to solve these difficulties, to elaborate an intervention strategy that modifies the deficiencies and to design projects of external financing that assure the cutting edge technology in the health personnel preparation.
