Abstract

Community intervention on exclusive breast feeding in pregnant women of municipality Songo-the Maya from Santiago de Cuba. MEDISAN [online]. 2010, vol.14, n.8, pp.2017-2025. ISSN 1029-3019.

A community intervention was carried out in 38 pregnant women (second and third pregnancy trimesters), belonging to 4 doctor´s offices of Songo- La Maya municipality in Santiago de Cuba province, from May, 2007 to July, 2008, in order to increase knowledge on the exclusive breast feeding and the importance of maintaining it up to the sixth month of their children's lives. With this intervention the knowledge of the women of the case material increased considerably, which revealed the effectiveness of the class-workshops program.
