An educational intervention directed to the family care givers of 20 terminally ill patients, belonging to the health area of "José Martí Pérez" University Polyclinic in Santiago de Cuba was carried out from July to December, 2009, with the objective of modifying their knowledge on the palliative cares that they should give with quality to affected people. After the strategy was applied it was possible to change positively the instruction level of the care givers on the topic, as well as their way of working in relation to the patients and their relatives.
