Abstract

Results of a descriptive and cross-sectional study related to 55 new born operated due to digestive malformations at the Neonatology Service of Northern Pediatric Hospital "Dr Juan de la Cruz Martínez" from Santiago de Cuba during 2003-2007 were presented. In the case material, low birth weight neonates, mostly males (65,5 %), as well as those affected by pylorus hypertrophic stenosis, esophageal atresia, anorectal malformation, intestinal atresia and stenosis, causing the death of the third part of patients in association with septic processes, were relevant.
