Abstract

GUERRA SANTANA, Arelis et al. Modification to knowledge of cardiovascular rehabilitation in heart disease patients. MEDISAN [online]. 2011, vol.15, n.8, pp.1135-1140. ISSN 1029-3019.

An educational intervention was performed to modify the knowledge of cardiovascular rehabilitation because of high prevalence of patients with heart diseases: angina pectoris, acute myocardial infarction and hypertensive heart disease. The study was carried out at "Saturnino Lora" Polyclinic of Specialties in Santiago de Cuba from January to June 2010 and included 20 workers with some of the above heart diseases. With this purpose the following variables were evaluated: concept of cardiovascular rehabilitation, risk factors, more frequent cardiovascular diseases, and influence of the physical exercise and treatment. The teaching strategy was able to positively modify the knowledge of the topic, which was checked 8 weeks after having completed this training on a very important health subject.

Keywords : heart disease; cardiovascular rehabilitation; polyclinic of specialties; intervention study.
