Abstract

The human qualities, the professional attitude and the revolutionary condition of a doctor from Guantánamo are exalted: Dr. Pedro Pouymiró Dupuy, who began the rural medicine in the region of Caujerí, old municipality from Guantánamo, but then he studied the specialty in Pneumothisiology, although he also worked as a clinician. He was a pioneer in the use of diagnostic means which were novel by those times and founder of the medical teaching in the territory, where he became an Assistant professor. He obtained several rewards for his teaching and assisting work and the good behaviour of different managing functions, either local or regional. This paper constitutes a homage of his followers, who have wanted to dedicate it to him since 2 decades ago.
