Abstract

DELGADO CORREA, Wilkie. Transformation of the universities, teachers and students in Cuba. MEDISAN [online]. 2012, vol.16, n.11, pp.1802-1814. ISSN 1029-3019.

The rationale for the proclamation of the Reform Law of the Higher Education in Cuba, the significance of this in the transformations of Cuban universities in stages after 1962, and the mission raised about the necessary changes (still in force) in the role of teachers and students are briefly explained. Similarly, aspects related to renewals in the university structure and implementation of new curricula in line with the scientific and technique development, advances in pedagogy, new technologies and comprehensive changes in the contemporary society are included. The results achieved from the Reform as the first stage of all that happened in Cuban higher education for half a century are also highlighted according to the demand in different historical periods.
