Abstract

A descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted in 106 patients with brain hemorrhage, admitted to the Department of Cerebrovascular Diseases of "Saturnino Lora Torres" Provincial Teaching Hospital in Santiago de Cuba during 2011, in order to analyze the main clinical and pathological characteristics of this condition. Age group of 61 years and over (29.2 %), black patients, male sex (71.6 %), hypertension as main risk factor (67.0 %) prevailed in the case material, besides bacterial bronchopneumonia and brain edema as non-neurological and neurological complications (36.0 and 29.0 %, respectively).
