Abstract

NAPOLES MENDEZ, Danilo. Antepartum cervix evaluation: practical significance in obstetrics. MEDISAN [online]. 2013, vol.17, n.5, pp.838-848. ISSN 1029-3019.

Antepartum evaluation of the cervix is a necessary procedure in obstetric practice to predict the response to pre-induction, induction, and onset of labor according to cervix ripening. The review aims to provide one more tool to evaluate the condition of the cervix before the labor by means of cross evaluation of its speculum examination, as an alternative that can be used in obstetrics. The method, besides being useful and noninvasive, reduces interobserver variability.

Keywords : antepartum cervix evaluation; obstetric procedures; speculum examination; obstetrics and gynecology services.
