Gender perspective is an analytic tool that enriches the understanding of the process health-disease-medical care in public health, the effectiveness of programs designed to solve or to enhance certain problems and one of the most polemic and less analyzed edges. In this article the elements related to gender are exposed, the gender focus, health and the visual health in specific, with the objective of highlighting the most representative and updated aspects, important to all the interested professionals in the topic, specifically in the ophthalmology field.
