The access to the scientific information is a topic very debated at present. The scientific production of the professionals of "Saturnino Lora Torres" Teaching Provincial Clinical Surgical Hospital in Santiago de Cuba was compiled to elaborate the design of the open access institutional repository, which fulfilled the requirements of the types of contents generated by its professionals and the policies to work on it. The first stage was concluded and its second phase is being built
