Abstract

A descriptive, retrospective and metric study was carried out in "Conrado Benítez García" Teaching Provincial Oncological Hospital in Santiago de Cuba, in the period 1996-2013, to determine the scientific production of its professionals either in national as foreign journals. In the series 98 scientific works were identified, the year of higher quantity of publications was 2006 and journal MEDISAN was the source with higher number of works; also, the professionals of this institution published more as co-authors (62,8%), mainly in the medical journal of their province (MEDISAN), with prevalence of those in the licentiate academic category (34,7%), those with the teaching category of assistant professor (24,5%) and those credited with the academic scientific degree of master (47,1% as main authors and 14,3% as co-authors). It is necessary to point out that the female sex was that of higher contribution to scientific publications
