Introduction:

The Neonatology is a discipline that is dedicated to the attention of the newborn, during the first 27 days of life. At the present time it is known that at world level more than half of the infantile mortality it is in fact located in this short period of age, what confers to this specialty a great importance in the environment of the medical specialties.

Objective:

To show the behavior of the morbidity and the mortality neonatal in the hospitals with service of Neonatology of Santiago de Cuba province during the period 2017 at the 2023.

Method:

was carried out and observational study, descriptive, cross-sectional, on the neonatal morbidity and mortality in the Santiago de Cuba province during the period 2017-2023. For it was used it the information annual collection in the System of Statistical Information.

Results:

It was observed that the births showed a descending tendency. The neonatal morbidity is headed by the connatal infection or precocious, while the trauma obstetric sample a franc increment. On the other hand, the malformations congenital adults have a descending tendency. The mortality of the smaller than one year maintained a propensity to the increment, representing its component neonatal more than the half in four of the five studied years.

Conclusions:

The morbidity and mortality Neonatal of the municipality of Santiago de Cuba influences directly in the increment of the infantile mortality of the county and therefore of the country.
