Introduction:
Medical education is the training process related to medicine, consisting of initial training to become doctors and with the fundamental principle of teaching, care and research integration in the health system, which guarantees that students join teaching care scenarios with adequate preparation.
Objective:
To characterize the dynamics of the academic management structure in the medicine faculty N.1 from the University of Medical Sciences.
Methods:
A descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out on managers and methodologists, from March to July, 2024. The study population consisted of 51 professionals who make up the structure. The variables studied were age, sex, coordination and hierarchy, management style, transformative academic leadership and resizing of academic culture, applying three instruments.
Results:
The results show that there are inadequacies in all the dimensions and the most affected are transforming academic leadership, (72.5 %) coordination and organization into a hierarchy (66.7 %) as well as management styles (60.8 %).
Conclusions:
It was concluded that there are inadequacies in the dynamics of academic management structure of the medicine faculty 1 in the University of Medical Sciences from Santiago de Cuba.
