The Cuban pediatric surgeon has a high qualification nowadays but does not know the basic needs to attain his own development. With the aim of identifying the basic needs, a Cuban pediatric surgeon must have to achieve his own development and the specialty, an analysis was done that allowed to determine the main demands to achieve the adequate performance. Examples of results were cited. The main needs were identified and were included in an integral way and allowed an adequate professional development as well as assistance, scientific and pedagogical relevance.
