Introduction: hypertension is a condition that requires special care during daily dental practice. Its treatment can generate lesions and secondary conditions in the oral mucosa, associated with its intake. Objective: to determine the presence of lesions and secondary conditions more frequent in the oral cavity of patients under antihypertensive treatment. Method: a descriptive observational study of a series of cases that came to the Polyclinic with Hospitalization Services Mario Muñoz was performed from January to May 2016. The universe of study consisted of 41 patients who were examined in consultation. Results: the age group most affected by injuries and secondary conditions was 35-59 years (51.2%) and the female sex was the most representative, with 58.5%. The most used antihypertensive medications were diuretics (n=39) and calcium channel blockers the least (n=19). Xerostomia (56.1%) was the most prevalent manifestation and lichenoid reaction (4.9%), the least found. One hundred percent of patients showed changes in their oral cavity due to the use of antihypertensive medications. Conclusions: the presence of injuries and other side effects were the results of the use of antihypertensive drugs.
