Currently, therapeutic advances in inflammatory arthritis are notable with the incorporation of new drugs that delay their progress and improve the quality of life of those affected. This literature review describes the advances in Rheumatology, especially with the use of disease-modifying medications in rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. The main databases such as PubMed/Medline, SciELO and Scopus were reviewed; also the Cuban biomedical journals. Emphasis was placed on TNFα inhibitors, IL-1 receptor antagonists, B cell therapy, IL-6 inhibitors and JAK inhibitors.
