Introduction:

The outbreak of the new coronavirus was reported in China since the end of last year and declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization on March 11, 2020. Cuba, with experience in dealing with exceptional situations, prepared the National Strategic Plan for Confronting COVID-19, with the aim of minimizing the risk of introduction and spread of the

"new coronavirus"

in the national territory, minimizing the negative effects on the population's health and its impact on the country's economic-social sphere. The Ministry of Public Health (MPH) developed the sector plan, where preparation and training constituted the central axis of the Teaching component, which mainstreamed all components to ensure that the specific objectives of the National Plan were met.

Method:

A descriptive investigation of development was carried out in the field of postgraduate education, whose object of study was the design and implementation of a strategy to train professionals, workers and students of the health system, as well as those from other institutions and society organizations, to confront COVID-19.

Conclusions:

The design and implementation of a continuous, intensive and phased training strategy at each stage of work, allowed the instruction of workers and students from the health sector, from other institutions, organizations and self-employed workers linked to Tourism, to face COVID-19 in the province of Holguín.
