Resumen

ESNARD BOLANOS, Sara C.  y  DIAZ ROSA, Olvido E.. Identificación y caracterización de bacilos gramnegativos no fermentadores aislados en el medio hospitalario. Rev Cubana Hig Epidemiol [online]. 1997, vol.35, n.1, pp.30-37. ISSN 0253-1751.

A total number of 251 strains isolated from a hospital environment with the presumptive diagnosis of non-fermenting gram-negative bacteria was studied. The strains were sent by Laboratories of Nosocomial Infections from the Provincial Centers of Hygiene and Epidemiology of Havana City, Santiago de Cuba, Holguín, Guantánamo, Camagüey, and the Isle of youth from September 1992 to June 1993. An initial scheme to corroborate the primary diagnosis of these strains was employed, as well as the production means of pigments King A and King B for the identification of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and biochemical tests for the microbiological diagnosis of other non-fermenting germs. Pyocin typing and serotyping were used for the characterization of the aeruginosa specimen. A number of 238 strains was confirmed and of them, 88.23 % corresponded to aeruginosa specimen whose predominant pyocin type and serotype were 10a and O11, respectively. Other bacilli frequently found were Pseudomonas cepacia (25 %); Pseudomonas fluorescens (17.8 %), and Acinetobacter calcoaceticus var. anitratus (17.8 %).
