DEL PUERTO RODRIGUEZ, Asela María; CONCEPCION ROJAS, Miriam  and  IGLESIAS FERNANDEZ, Ana Margarita. Saneamiento ambiental y enfermedades de transmisión digestiva en el municipio Plaza de la Revolución, 1992-1997. Rev Cubana Hig Epidemiol [online]. 1999, vol.37, n.2, pp.82-89. ISSN 0253-1751.

This is an ecological study where the results of some indicators of environmental sanitation (quality of water, hydric contamination, collection of solid wastes and disposal of liquid residuals) and the behavior of morbidity due to digestive transmitted diseases, such as hepatitis, acute diarrheal diseases, and food poisoning observed in the municipality of Plaza de la Revolución from 1992 to the first semester of 1997 are shown. The information was obtained from the primary data of medical attention of the Municipal Statistical Department and of the Municipal Environmental Health Department. Incidence rates were calculated by health areas, endemic channels and trends. There are deficiencies with potable water and in the management of solid wastes and liquid residuals. It is observed a correspondance between morbidity and water potability
