Abstract

SUAREZ CABRERA, Rugiere; SANCHEZ MARTINEZ, Alfredo  and  MARTINEZ VALLADARES, Miriam. Fuentes emisoras de radiaciones o campos electromagnéticos no ionizantes de uso médico. Rev Cubana Hig Epidemiol [online]. 2000, vol.38, n.3, pp.184-188. ISSN 0253-1751.

The introduction and development of technology where radiations or non-ionizing electromagnetic fields are used, has been increasing in the health sector, therefore its workers are an important part of the personnel exposed to this risk factor. The present paper is an approximation of how this problem really behaved in the Cuban health sector, taking as a reference the visit to 14 hospitals of the city of Havana and the opinion expressed by the workers linked to those sources. The persons in charge of PHT did not perceive those sources as a problem, the situation among the workers is some what different. A list of recommendations that we consider useful for the sector was presented.

Keywords : ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELDS [adverse effects]; SECURITY MEASURES; ENVIRONMENT AND PUBLIC HEALTH; EFFECT MODIFIERS (EPIDEMIOLOGY).
