Abstract

BERDASQUERA CORCHO, Denis  and  SUAREZ LARREINAGA, Carmen Luisa. Control de la quimioprofilaxis de la infección tuberculosa en atención primaria de salud. Rev Cubana Hig Epidemiol [online]. 2002, vol.40, n.3, pp.143-163. ISSN 0253-1751.

The chemoprophylaxis of the cases of tuberculosis contacts with positive bacilloscopies is one of the priorities in the control of the focus of this disease in primary health care. For this reason, a descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in which 55 contacts of the 3 pulmonary tuberculosis cases diagnosed in the municipality of Guanajay, province of Havana, during the year 2000, were investigated aimed at describing the main actions taken in the corresponding focus controls related to the administration of isionazide as prophylaxis of tuberculosis. A documentary review of the topic was made and the information was taken from the epidemiological histories and from the individual medical histories. It was concluded that 83.64 % of the contacts were investigated by direct examinations of sputum. The highest percentage of contacts treated was that of intradomiciliary (72.73 %). There were difficulties to make the Tuberculin test due to its little availability in the municipality. However, the activities carried out may be considered as satisfactory and they contributed to prevent the transmission of the disease.
