The technologies used in the attention to the environment have proved to be of special interest during the last years. The Cuban health authorities have implemented regulations in order to guarantee the innocuousness and efficiency of the environmental products and technologies supporting the development of trade and turism. The health evaluation and approval before the commercialization of the technologies related to environment and health in the national territory is made by an expert committee assigned to the health registry of food, cosmetics and personal hygiene goods. The percentual distribution by type of product and technology of the 129 that were approved from May, 1996, to June, 2002, is carried out. 58.13 % corresponded to those products used in the treatment and disinfection of swimming pools.
