Abstract

SARDINAS PENA, Olivia  and  PEREZ CABRERA, Adisbel. Determination of ammoniacal and total nitrogen in drinking water and sewage by the phenate method. Rev Cubana Hig Epidemiol [online]. 2004, vol.42, n.2. ISSN 0253-1751.

The results of the determination of ammoniacal and total nitrogen by the method of phenate in waters were presented aimed at evaluating the quality indicators applied for the validation of assay methods at the Laboratory of Inorganic Chemistry of the National Institute of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology. The precision, bias and uncertainty that were obtained in the lineal range of the calibration graph were evaluated as health indicators. The limit of detection of the method as well as the concentration of ammoniacal and total nitrogen of samples of drinking water and sewage processed by the evaluated method were reported. Water samples were processed by the methods indicated in this paper and the normality in the distribution of the results was proved by Shapiro Wilk's W test.

Keywords : Ammoniacal nitrogen; , validation; sewage; spectrophotometric method.
