Abstract

Air pollution is presently one of the most serious environmental problems worldwide. It is present in every society regardless of socio-economic development and constitutes a phenomenon that has a particular incidence on the human health. The present review article defined this kind of pollution, its main sources, polluting agents and the importance of surveillance systems for air quality. It also made emphasis on outdoor environmental pollution and presented summarized information on the manifestations of this problem in the course of history including international conventions and events. This article addresses the impact of pollution as a health problem through examples taken from different countries of America.
