Abstract

ALVAREZ PEREZ, Adolfo Gerardo; GARCIA FARINAS, Anai; RODRIGUEZ SALVA, Armando  and  BONET GORBEA, Mariano. Political will and intersectorial action: Key premises for the social determination of health in Cuba. Rev Cubana Hig Epidemiol [online]. 2007, vol.45, n.3. ISSN 0253-1751.

OBJECTIVE: to approach the experience that for more than 4 decades the government and the Cuban health system have developed in the matter of political will and intersectorial action, as key premises of the results Cuba has attained in the health field so far, starting from the model of social determination of health developed by the authors. DEVELOPMENT: several international publications consider political will and intersectoriality as the genuine translation of it's or not, as one of the premises that without distinction of country allow to improve the health status of the population based on a comprehensive and participative approach of the society and its different spaces of participation in the rest of the health determinants. CONCLUSIONS: the bases and principles of political will and intersectoriality in Cuba were stated, as well as diverse examples at the different levels of society.
