OBJECTIVE: to adapt and test a health-related life quality questionnaire in adolescents aged 15-19, and to determine its connection with risk behaviours aimed at applying it among the adolescents of the country and at proposing a new questionnaire for its validation. METHODS: the pilot test of the questionnaire was conducted at the Economics Polytechnic of Habana Vieja municipality, where all the first- and second-year healthy adolescents were studied. The Child Health and Illness Profile generic instrument adjusted by expert criterion was applied to the participants. RESULTS: it was found in the pilot test that there were some questions the adolescents did not understand. CONCLUSIONS: the adequacies of the questions, as well as the validation of the questionnaire in the different geographic settings present in Cuba were recommended.
