Nowadays it is known menopause is a physiological condition of another natural change in women, it is a stage of chronic deficiency which can last even 20 years, that was why a longitudinal and descriptive research on the topic was carried out. Out of 113 women a sample composed by women between the ages 45 and 55 (67.8 %) was analyzed. All women belonged to Doctor's Office (No. 197) at Hermanos Cruz Outpatient Clinic in Pinar del Río Municipality during the months of January - July 2003. To achieve the purposes the necessary report was developed and a survey was conducted where the variables assessed were: concepts of climacteric and menopause, clinical manifestations presented, sources of information, among others. Data were processed following a percentage analysis and recorded in arithmetical charts. Sexual intercourse was mainly affected due to the decrease of libido; sources of information were mass media (radio and television) nurse and doctors, the majority of patients considered necessary to publicize the topic and others. At the end of the survey a series of recommendations was offered to women with the aim or turning this stage more pleasant and tolerable.
