A prospective-analytic study was carried out in 100 pregnants from Pinar del Río province, who were antenatally diagnosed of having a fetal congenital malformation. The study took place from March 1^st 2002 to December 31^st 2004. The diagnosis was performed using some of the following procedures: fetal ultrasound, alpha-fetoprotein, kariotype of fetal cells in amniotic fluid and molecular study. Once the diagnosis was established, genetic advice was offered by experts and subsequently psychological stages of pregnants were analyzed, being present. negation, depression and acceptance.
