Abstract

A longitudinal and prospective research was conducted using 249 gastric biopsies where inflammatory gastric lesion and the presence of infection caused by Helicobacter pylori were diagnosed using the basic fuchsin technique in the Anatomy Department at "Pepe Portilla" Paediatric Hospital in Pinar del Rio, aimed at showing the association between both variables. The samples were processed through the usual technique and diagnosed by the specialists of Anatomy. Results obtained were processed using the descriptive statistics X². The following results were obtained: no association between the variables age and sex was observed considering the infection caused by Helicobacter pylori, the association respect to the infection caused by the bacterium and the variables was shown: severity of the gastritis, inflammation, intestinal metaplasia and follicular hyperplasia. No association was observed between epithelial dysplasia and the presence of Helicobacter pylory.
