An observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted aimed at identifying the characteristics of intrafamilial violence in adolescents at "Hermanos Cruz" University Outpatient Clinic, where a survey to 300 adolescents of both sexes in relation to the objectives was applied and a test about the familial function as well. The subgroup that expressed violence was compared to the group that did not report it, expressing the results in absolute numbers and percentages. Results showed: statistical significance, chi square test to a statistical significance of á - 0, 05, the majority of the adolescents recognized the existence of violence in their homes, no differences in sex were found. The emotional and physical violence prevailed in almost the total of the adolescent's families, where familial violence was in close relation to the presence of parents at home, being present in all groups without any repercussions on parents' educational background. On the other hand; it was found that intrafamilial violence was linked to a high possession and use of media equipments and excessive alcohol consumption of the adults living with adolescents. A close relation between violence and dysfunctional families was demonstrated in respect of functional homes.
