Resumen

GONZALEZ TIELVES, Marilín et al. Assessment of the focus control in a brucellosis case report. Rev Ciencias Médicas [online]. 2011, vol.15, n.2, pp.320-329. ISSN 1561-3194.

Objective: to carry out a critical analysis to a focus control in a female pediatric-age patient suffering from brucellosis. The case was intentionally chosen among the cases confirmed since the patient is a girl and because the case was unusual for this group of ages in Pinar del Rio municipality, Pinar del Rio province in 2009. Development: the data generated and available for this case were reviewed and the different health authorities related to the case from the health area and hospital facilities were as well interviewed. The Program for the Control and Prevention of Brucellosis was consulted; this program constitutes a technical-methodological tool to the control and prevention of this disease all over the country. Conclusion: the main insufficiency detected in this case was associated with the onset of the disease in a little girl, which condition presents a high rate of occurrence in the adult individuals that are exposed of occupational risk. Inadequate examination and lack of epidemiological thinking represent the main gap in the diagnosis of the cases, showing the necessity of extending educational activities related to the prevention of zoonotic diseases to the entire population.
