Alcoholism is a potential risk factor to health status and it can lead to death. An observational, descriptive study was conducted at No-150 family doctor's office belonging to "Raul Sanchez" University Polyclinic during August 1st 2008 to August 31 2009. This study was aimed at determining alcohol addictions in adolescent and young populations in this health area. The target group included 102 adolescents and young people. The sample involved 73 patients intentionally. 29 adolescents were excluded considering different reasons. The survey was processed as information source and family health records as a data collection method. The variables analyzed were: age, psychosocial motivations to alcohol intake, satisfaction of basic needs, as well as family and social repercussions; using percentage arithmetical method. Adolescents showed the highest incidence. Lack of entertainment alternatives were the main psychosocial motivations, most of them came from homes where basic needs were regularly covered, atmosphere of tension in their homes and robberies represented the most significant repercussions in families, together with public indecency and brawls as social repercussion.
