Material and methods: a descriptive and cross-sectional research involving an intentional sample of 25 families of 26 adolescents (2 siblings and those living together) from the communities that reported the highest figures of prevalence of this antisocial personality disorder from 2006 to 2010. The techniques applied were: semi-structured interviews, assessment scale, family shield as an active intervention technique, family draw and self-portrait; as well as interviews to the specialists who attended the adolescents and review of clinical histories. Results: the types of physical and psychological violence expressed at once prevailed and were associated with para-normative events of the vital family cycle. All families reported antecedents of violent behaviours. The members presenting the major participation in these violent episodes were the adolescents and their mothers. The prevailing reaction of adolescents before intrafamily violence was verbal aggression, occupying the place of offended and aggressor/offended for the most part. Conclusions: in the majority of families presenting violent behaviours the first manifestations of violence were maintained, independently the peculiarity of its expression, associated with para-normative events of the vital cycle.
